Before battle, players may choose to complete an objective requested by characters outside their attack team. However, this feature has no major impact on the plot nor does it prevent any other character from being selected as part of the group. Once relationships are established, players can talk to affiliated characters within town to open these special missions.Įach stage also provides a recommended team for players to use. Similar to Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3, new side missions can also be unlocked based on the friendship ratings between characters. Known as redux stages, these are the results of changing events in other battles. Though entirely optional, some characters can only be recruited by unlocking alternate versions of certain missions.
Like Dynasty Warriors 4, additional stages and characters become available by completing various scenarios presented within each chapter. Stages are divided into two types: main story battles that are connected with one another chronologically (visually represented by a square on the stage list) and side battles that mostly exist outside the story branch (symbolized by a circle). Unlike in previous titles, the Story Mode of Warriors Orochi 3 follows the Shin Sangoku Musou Multi Raid 2 format in which faction stories are completely omitted in favor of a singular main story scenario told in a total of four chapter segments.
